Songs of Istanbul brengt het historische en culturele rijkdom van Istanbul naar het Nederlandse toneel met eigen muziek waarin de historische tradities van Istanbul behouden worden met de geweldige zangeres Şevval Sam en succesvolle violiste Çisem Özkurt, begeleid door traditionele instrumenten en moderne arrangementen.

Istanbul, waar het Oosten en het Westen elkaar ontmoeten, is een van de beroemdste steden ter wereld met zijn geschiedenis, geografische ligging en culturele achtergrond. Al meer dan 2000 jaar is Istanbul een ontmoetingsplaats voor mensen uit verschillende landen, waarvan velen hun stempel hebben gedrukt op het kleurrijke culturele erfgoed. Muziek was natuurlijk een van de grootste elementen van dit erfgoed. Songs of Istanbul brings the historical and cultural richness of Istanbul to the Dutch stage with its own songs while preserving the historical traditions of Istanbul with the great singer Şevval Sam and successful violinist Çisem Özkurt, accompanied by traditional instruments and modern arrangements. 

Istanbul, where the East and the West meet, is one of the most famous cities in the world with its history, geographical location, and cultural background. For more than 2000 years, Istanbul has served as a meeting point for people from different nations, many of them leaving their mark on its colorful cultural heritage. Of course, music was one of the biggest elements of this heritage. The music from Istanbul connects people in different countries still today since many songs from İstanbul are still played in different countries all around the area of the old Ottoman Empire.
